... We begin to realize the signs of the times

As of late, I've been exposed to more of the everyday news and world events, thanks to my roommate who loves keeping up with the news of today... Today, as she sat on my bed watching some footage of the latest tornado disasters in the interior of our country, I was reminded of something Elder Holland said this last (April 2011) Conference--

Brothers and sisters, in general conference we offer our testimonies in conjunction with other testimonies that will come, because one way or another God will have His voice heard. “I sent you out to testify and warn the people,” the Lord has said to His prophets.

“[And] after your testimony cometh the testimony of earthquakes, … of thunderings, … lightnings, and … tempests, and the voice of the waves of the sea heaving themselves beyond their bounds. …

“And angels shall … [cry] with a loud voice, sounding the trump of God.”

Now, these mortal angels who come to this pulpit have, each in his or her own way, sounded “the trump of God.” Every sermon given is always, by definition, both a testimony of love and a warning, even as nature herself will testify with love and a warning in the last days.

The signs of our times are out there, more powerfully manifesting themselves than ever before. This is simply another testimony to me that we need to be doing our very best TODAY-- not tomorrow, TODAY. If we are living in a way that the spirit of God can dwell within us, we need not fear. That's all He asks of us- nothing more, nothing less.

... Carrie decided to create a Blog

Tuesdays this semester have probably been my favorite day of the week. With my schedule consisting of an institute class at 10:30 in the morning... and... well, that's it! The non-busy-ness of my Tuesdays led to a routine habit of heading to the temple in the afternoon with my oh-so-wonderful roommate. After our customary temple trip yesterday, I spent the rest of my afternoon and evening with a certain upstanding young lady who just happens to be my future roommate. Amidst our diligent studying for finals coming up soon, we both received an identical text proclaiming, "It's been 18 hours..." You see, as of late, the two of us have been practically joined at the hip along with the 3rd of our party- a neighbor of mine. We've even gone so far as to dub ourselves the Three Musketeers at times. Needless to say, we simply had to pay our 3rd part a visit that night-- at which time I was inspired and (for once) nudged by before-mentioned 3rd party to create this very paragraph on this very blog on this very normal day.
